Ministries at Formosa Baptist Church
Join us as we seek to know God and make him known!
Know God, Make Him Known.
To truly know God is to love him and to desire to point others to him. So, we believe that ministry is a two-way street. It is vital to our spiritual growth and development to not only be ministered to, but to use our God-given spiritual gifts and wisdom to minister to others. We seek to provide opportunities for every age group to not only be spiritually fed and ministered to, but also to spiritually feed and minister to others. Below are some of the ministry opportunities you'll find at Formosa.
Children's Ministry
We have a variety of ministries for children, including age-grouped Sunday School classes, Children's Church, Nursery, Wednesday evening Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, and more! No age is to young to learn to serve, so we also provide our children opportunities to minister to others, as well! In our Wednesday evening "Children in Action" (CIA) program, children learn about missionaries around the world, pray for them, and complete little missions projects to help encourage overseas missionaries. Our children also help pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child each year.
Youth Ministry
Our youth (grades 6-12) have a lot of fun while learning about Jesus and ministering to others! We have Sunday School, Wednesday evening youth group, youth rallies with other churches, Camp Siloam (church camp), concerts, and many other get togethers and outings. But, our youth are also given the opportunity to minister through volunteer opportunities during Vacation Bible School, packing Operation Christmas Child boxes, serving in the worship band, and more! Engaging our youth in practical ministry opportunities is one of the keys to our culture of ministry at Formosa!
Men's Ministry
Our men's ministry meets weekly on Monday mornings at 6am for fellowship, prayer, and devotional. The men also usually take a camping trip each fall to get away and enjoy nature and fellowship with other men. But, our men are also true leaders in the church, serving in a number of ways in the church. Men serve as adult Sunday school teachers, volunteers/chaperones for the youth ministry, hunting guides for the annual "Hunt for Jesus," and as ushers, deacons, and more.
Women's Ministry
The Women’s ministry meets weekly on Monday evenings for fellowship, prayer, and devotional time. Our ladies are very active in volunteering their time and efforts to assist The Call, a fostering/adoption agency in our county. They also volunteer as chaperones for youth events, teach children's classes, help prepare meal trains for members in need, organize and lead VBS, serve in Children's ministries, and serve in a myriad of other ways.
Missions and Community Service
We exist not only to know God, but also to make him known! We seek to reach the lost and the needy both in our community and to the ends of the earth. We fill and ship about 200 Operation Christmas Child boxes each year to needy children around the world, and our members have taken mission trips to Honduras, Kenya, and Mexico in recent years, and our pastor and his family served as foreign missionaries to Papua New Guinea for several years. We believe that what the world needs most is the good news of Jesus Christ!
